The
Keweenaw
peninsula will be a focal point for in-use snowmobile
emissions again. Originally the snowmobile trails of the
Keweenaw were used by SwRI (for EPA) to determine an
appropriate test cycle for Snowmobiles using engine
dynamometers for certification. This year, Sensors will be
demonstrating in-use emissions measurement using the
SEMTECH-DS. The SEMTECH will be towed behind a snowmobile
this year to familiarize the teams with the challenge.
Sensors is designing a special sleigh to house all SEMTECH
and auxiliary equipment that will be used to measure the
in-use or in service emissions in future competitions.
Sensors
and Keweenaw Research Center will work together to define
the competition and Sensors will present an award to the
team with the lowest in-use emissions. The first in-use
emissions competition and award will take place next year
(CSC 2009). |
